The Mid-Atlantic Division of WCI is a builder/developer of upscale homes and resort style residential communities in the D.C. metro market.
Responsible for planning, zoning and entitlements, project budgets, scheduling and land development construction, also part of the strategic land acquisition team. Successful rezoned of two complex, urban infill parcels in Fairfax County, Virginia and completed land development of a difficult infill single family site ahead of schedule and with significant cost savings. Recruited, and supervised land development team of engineers, planners and construction managers. Interfaced with division financial reporting group to prepare pro forma analysis of projects, manage costs and variances, prepare corporate financial updates and to develop and manage department budget.
CENTEX HOMES, CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA 2002-2004 SENIOR LAND ENTITLEMENT MANAGER
The D.C. Division was one of the top production home builders in the metro market. Product lines included entry level, move up and luxury homes as well at town homes.
Responsible for the planning and zoning of large residential communities and mixed use developments in multiple jurisdictions in the D.C. metro area. Many zoning cases were located in more rural and anti-growth counties that required numerous community meetings and lengthy negotiations with staff and public officials. Actively involved in the land acquisition process and located and performed feasibility analysis on subject sites. Managed significant work volume and was responsible for over 2,000 units in the entitlement process.
WILLIAMSBURG ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP, STERLING, VIRGINIA 1999-2002 REGIONAL OFFICE MANAGER
One of the leading environmental consulting groups in the Mid-Atlantic specializing in complex state and federal permitting, mitigation design and construction, feasibility analysis and with a specialization in golf course design and permitting.
Grew the office from a staff of three to nine professionals and increased revenues by over 40% each year. Personally managed larger, key accounts and performed environmental analysis, permitting strategy development and land planning on a range of project types including: residential, commercial, golf course and municipal. Engineer of record on significant golf course projects including Lansdowne on the Potomac, 27 hole resort course designed by Greg Norman, and Beacon Hill Country Club, 18 championship course designed by Johnny Miller.
TOLL BROTHERS, ASHBURN, VIRGINIA 1998-1999 SENIOR LAND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Toll is one of the leading production home builders in the region with a focus on resort style residential master planned communities.
Was the initial staff hire for the Belmont Country Club community, a gated, private 1,900 residential unit, mixed use community with office and retail land bays. Responsible for the planning and construction management of the Arnold Palmer design golf course, and a clubhouse that incorporated a historic manor house. Developed master engineering plan, budgets and schedule. Fast tracked first phase of 450 residential units and the golf course on budget and schedule. Recruited and supervised development management team for the community.
INTRAWEST CORPORATION, SNOWSHOE, WEST VIRGINIA 1996-1998 VICE PRESIDENT, RESORT DEVELOPMENT
Intrawest is one of the leading four season resort developers in North America, with a focus on mountain properties.
Was the initial staff hire at the resort and was responsible for establishing a new development business unit, recruiting, hiring and managing development and sales staff. Let the on site visioning process and completed a ten year master plan and business plan with a program to expand the resort bed base by fifty percent and to create a pedestrian village with over one hundred thousand square feet of commercial space. Analyzed existing infrastructure systems and implemented an expansion program to match resort growth. Developed capital and administrative budgets, recruited and trained development and sales staff. Completed first phase of Camp 4, a ski in-ski out townhouse community and successfully launched the first condo-hotel in the village, Rimfire Lodge, a 72 unit building with over $6 million in pre-sales.
