Design and Program Innovation: Capital/operating cost feasibility of central plant cooling was proposed, evaluated, approved and built within the project budget. Design team advanced the plant concept from a mundane engineering imperative into a distinctive, iconic entry feature tower that efficiently preserved valuable land area and provided an artful element to the town center. A custom cooling tower was designed with low velocity fans to mitigate noise from traditional high velocity units, preserving a dark, quiet sky ethic of the rural locale. The water tower look reinforced a rural town aesthetic and removed the usual visual blight of compressor farms.
Intrapreneurial Development: Effected 50% savings on cost and schedule for high-end furniture by engaging a company cypress lumber mill and local craftsmen to produce custom designs in lieu of specialty retail pieces the results allowed St. Joe to promote the established architectural indigenous ethic of Old Florida of this place through its furniture as well as supporting local business and arts.
