Senior Project Management Consultant, Sanford, NC Managed design/construction/commissioning/validation of a $193MM multi-product bacterial vaccine manufacturing facility including fermentation, recovery, purification, and material bulk fill. Identified $8MM in project cost savings related to logistics, manpower loading and scheduling. Initiated a document control system for construction documents, HAZOPS, change control, risk assessment, QA operations control and unresolved design issues resulting in improved schedule. Developed resource matrix, project control procedures and reporting reducing manpower needs. Managed project site logistics and facilities liaison resulting in an enhanced project turnover.

Senior Director of Engineering, West Paterson, NJ Directed capital project program, including $80MM DEA regulated Oxycontin manufacturing facility construction and $40 MM Oral Solid Dosage Facility within budget and schedule. Prepared engineering manual, project procedures, site master plan and capital plan for five sites standardizing documentation for all sites.

NOVARTIS PHARMACEUTICALS CORPORATION 1985-1999
Director - Engineering, East Hanover, NJ Directed facilities management of 1MM sq. ft. Research & Development complex; laboratories, vivarium and offices; resources recovery, energy conservation and project coordination. Achieved operating cost savings of 12%, reduced operating budget from $30MM to $26.4MM the first year. Directed project team in construction of $160MM, 385,000 sq. ft. oral solid dosage manufacturing facility from pharmacy thru packaging operations on time and budget. Started up new Ritalin Facility with DEA oversight on time and budget. Established manufacturing operations following project start-up/commissioning and validation. Successfully produced required performance lots without incidents or deviations. Established safety priority, safety officer and awarded OSHA VPP Star award on back-back projects. Initiated joint user-project-site and occupancy teams. Participated with user groups and finance to establish accurate project scope and cost. Project received Presidential recognition. Project completed on budget and 5 months early, saving $4MM in lease costs. Introduced standards and practices for material and project procedures improving project efficiencies. Managed (10) direct reports including profiles, reviews and development plans. Managed project to design/construct $12MM office building. Included major site utilities relocation. Managed hazardous chemical waste disposal, asbestos abatement, radiological decontamination and vermin extermination certification during the removal of nine lab and animal care buildings.
