SOUTHERN LAND COMPANY, Franklin, Tennessee 2000 to Present Full-service real estate developer with up to 300 employees and $100 million in annual sales and over $1 billion worth of residential, commercial, retail, and mixed-use construction projects+.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) Direct all aspects of company operations and construction project management. Determine corporate direction, budgets, and culture with CEO and President. Serve as CFO in charge of over 40 entities, including relationships with banks, equity partners, investors, and property management organizations. Lead 160 staff, including operations, design, civil engineering, construction, and accounting teams. Interact with ownership group for $300 million worth of assets on debt relations, leasing, and projects. Administer sales, marketing, estimating, surveys, land acquisition and planning, infrastructure, purchasing, contract negotiations, client satisfaction, IT, and P&L. Manage cash flow review, audits, and corporate insurance. Improve efficiency, reduce costs, and devise organization-wide strategies and controls for optimum asset management and resource allocation.
Specific Accomplishments: Started up homebuilding group that peaked at $50 million in annual revenues and $3 million in profits building homes valued at up to $10 million. Established new commercial construction group and built unique $10 million amenity center. Raised over $7 million for St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital as the only regional St. Jude Dream Home Builder and earned national Builder of the Year and Campaign of the Year awards. Instrumental role in expansion of company from 25 personnel to a maximum of over 300. Achieved $800,000 savings with successful delivery of $20 million office building project. Spearheaded complete multi-family housing projects of more than 1,000 units. Maintained company profitability and low staff turnover during highly adverse economy. Entered Texas market and provided new offerings in architectural and landscape design.
