After producing Beechnut chewing tobacco in the same location for over 100 years National Tobacco has made the decision to close down the Louisville Plant and outsource production. For this reason I am seeking new career as your Engineering Professional.
I am the Maintenance supervisor for a multi- million dollar facility that covers a full city block and that is 4 stories in some buildings. This facility has 11 buildings, 7 elevators, three boilers, and production and high speed packaging on 4 different floors and 26 acres. The hourly people are covered by three different unions and I manage people in each union. To provide maintenance for this facility my team consists of 13 craftsmen. We provide maintenance for facility, processing and high-speed packaging.
My background has been Maintenance and Engineering for the last 15 years. I have over 8 years of experience in the tobacco industry and high speed packaging. I worked for 5 years at Philip Morris as a mechanical supervisor working on the most sophisticated packing equipment in the world. At Philip Morris I started working as night shift maintenance team. I was assigned to a $41 million modernization project. Let me tell you how I reduced the set up time from 2 weeks to 100 hours and saved the company millions in labor cost and increased revenue. While working for National Tobacco, I was able to eliminate an Electrician position by resurrecting and old dos based Work order program and implementing and effective preventative maintenance program. When we talk, I can explain how this also increased the quality service to our facility.
By making efficiency and automation changes in our steam system I was able to eliminate one boiler operator from our staff. I have a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville. I am currently working on my National Electric Code certification, which is expected this year. I have also studied Reliability Engineering, Quality Control Engineering Six Sigma, 5S and Spanish. I strive to bring a team environment to the work place. I like to use RCI, 5 S, and Kazan methods to the areas I am responsible for to make them more efficient and productive.
If you need a Maintenance Engineer that has a diverse background and a proven history of success that will make your company more cost efficient, then you have found me. Contact me to set up and interview and lets get started.
Regards, Steve Stieben BSME NEC Master Electrician
