Mechanical Construction Manager


         Responsible for managing & supervising all activities for the sprinkler, plumbing and mechanical systems for all new prison construction for the State of North Carolina Department of Corrections. Work included construction of one (1) medium dorm, two (2) minimum dorm units, and two (2) fine screen solids removal projects across the entire state of North Carolina.


         Worked as Mechanical Construction Manager reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Central Engineering. Work was supervised by civilian trade supervisors in the plumbing, mechanical, and sprinkler trades with all work being performed by inmates of the prison system.


         Managed day-to-day field operations with a workforce of up to 93 inmates at peak with 3 HVAC Supervisors, 2 Sprinkler supervisors, 2 Plumbing supervisors and 1 Outside Utility/General trades supervisor.


         Responsible for material takeoffs; material purchases; change order scopes, takeoffs, pricing; directing labor forces; coordination with all trades concerning project schedule; scheduling of labor forces and material deliveries; management of on-site pre-fabrication and material warehouse with use of a warehouse & prefab manager; on-site coordination meetings and drawings along with Central Engineering Design department; implementation of all MOP plans required for work in any existing/new portion of the prison that could affect the day to day activities/utilities of the prison.


         Directed all self performed work by NC DOC inmates including all sprinkler, plumbing, mechanical piping, and test & balance of all systems


         Responsible for the following subcontracted work; Building automation systems (KMC Controls system).
