Jan. 2008 May 2009 Senior Project Engineer As a Senior Project Engineer, he was actively involved with mine feasibility, basic and detailed design projects. He managed a major project task to successfully complete the basic design for all ancillary mechanical systems on a 32-story high head frame for one of the largest deep cave mine sites in the world. He was the lead mechanical engineer for design of a unique NFPA Coded fire suppression and detection system for the mine. He was lead mechanical engineer for the design of a temporary collar house, mine dry building and utility corridors. As part of his duties he completed the utility flow and P&ID diagrams. He developed and oversaw the detailed piping design, as well as the design of mine buildings heating, ventilation, plumbing, and drainage requirements, He prepared equipment specifications for fire storage and service water tanks, remote, weather-protected fire pump systems and underground mains, and major equipment cranes and monorails. He completed the technical portion of RFQ documents and reviewed and approved purchase of these items. He designed mine crushers and crushed rock conveyer systems using Pro-Belt and Bruno software.
WinCup Holdings - Phoenix, Az. Feb. 2006-Nov 2007 Thermal & Energy Systems Engineer Performed project engineering and energy audits for major energy projects at 8 foam cup plants. Program development for $2.35 M of energy savings with validated savings of $1.4 M for this period. Project manager/engineer for numerous multi-plant capital projects and operational improvements. These included boiler economizers, energy efficient lighting, improved combustion efficiencies, automatic blow down and heat recovery, upgraded controls for boilers and air compressor, turbulators, water conservation, motor efficiency, insulation, reduction of steam and air leaks, compressed air systems optimization, and VFD Boiler fan control and O2 Trim. Coordinated with external vendors and contractors to develop technical proposals and final designs. Conducted energy analysis, surveys, and spreadsheet analysis of energy and demand savings. Evaluated utility company incentives and project economics. Performed project metering and measurements of critical parameters. Evaluated end-use energy cost under various available delivery rates and supplies scenarios. Developed 6-Sigma utility consumption and production metrics for the 8 locations. Researched solar, wind, geothermal and other sustainable energy options. Screened and qualified the feasibility of performance contracting initiatives.
