oWORK HISTORY: October 2007 to July 2010 SENIOR ESTIMATOR AND PRECONSTRUCTION MANAGER Delta Construction, Ft Collins, Colorado Estimating and Preconstruction management for a commercial construction General Contractor with annual total projects value of $40-55 million in Colorado and Wyoming. These projects ranged from Hard Bid, Design-build, CMAR and Cost-Plus types of projects. Estimating Evaluated all possible projects for viability, performed risk analysis, determined which opportunities to pursue, acquired bid documents, attended job walks, compiled subcontractor bidders list, assembled subcontractor Request for Proposal packages, completed a 16 division estimate (using Timberline, MC2, RSMeans or Excel software packages), established project budget, applied for appropriate Performance Bonds, evaluated subcontractor proposals, compiled bid tabulations, completed all bidding documents, submitted bids, reviewed bid results and when successful, prepared project package to hand off to Project Manager. Preconstruction Management Represented Delta Construction when meeting new clients to review their needs and requirements, initial space programming, interfacing with Architect and MEP designers, review site selection, prepared high level budgets, worked with the governing municipality to determine permits and capital expansion fees, prepared proformas to determine project viability, maintained an open items list to keep clients aware of ongoing cost changes, value engineered project to its most efficient level, headed preconstruction meetings and once the design is finalized lead the hard bid portion of the costing process.
April 2006 to October 2007 HEAD ESTIMATOR/PROCUREMENT Parsons Engineering, Charlotte, North Carolina Estimating, Procurement and Commissioning support for the construction of the Intel Data Center located in Fort Collins, CO with a $65 million budget. Estimating - Developed a complete estimating system, designed the estimating software, assembled supporting logs and graphics, prepared cost estimates at the 60%, 90% and CD levels of design and executed should-cost estimates for all change orders. Procurement - Developed the onsite procurement program, reviewed vendor pre-qualifications, assembled bid packages, conducted pre and post bid interviews, analyzed contractors proposals, performed vendor quality audits and negotiated purchase contract. Administered purchase contracts for completeness, change orders, conflict resolution, technical support and warranty issues. Commissioning - Represented the contractor on the project commissioning team. Coordinated subcontractors commissioning documents, lead coordination meetings, resolved disputes, witness testing and project close out. This facet of the project required its own document control program.
2000 to April 2006 CHIEF ESTIMATOR/PROJECT MANAGER EagleSpan Steel Structures, Loveland, Colorado Department head in charge of all estimating and bidding for a medium size metal building manufacture. Assisted customers during all phases of their metal building project - Project inception, building design, contract negotiations, raw material procurement, manufacturing, technical support during assembly, conflict resolution and contract close out. Utilized Windows Office and AUTOCAD software. Field visits to customer project sites for reviews and troubleshooting. First in annual personnel sales total for five years.
1998 to 2000 COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER Mountain Vista Builders, Ft Collins, Colorado Project management of commercial construction projects for a small General Contractor. Customer relations, project supervision, interpretation of blueprints, employee concerns, materials procurement, subcontractor negotiations, general construction skills, fiscal project management, quality control, building permit process and problem resolution. Oversaw $5M of projects annually.
1993 to 1998 CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT Northern Colorado Partitions, Windsor, Colorado Field superintendent for a steel stud and drywall company. Daily supervision of commercial construction projects that required customer relations, employee management, quality control and hands on construction skills.
1991 to 1993 OPTICAL ENGINEER Alpine Research Optics, Boulder, Colorado Lead Optical Engineer for a small start up optics manufacture. Designed and implemented optical design and quality programs for a manufacture of weapons grade optics.
1989 to 1991 OPTICAL ENGINEER Rocky Mountain Instruments, Longmont, Colorado Staff engineer for a commercial optics manufacture Designed and tested precision optics. Worked extensively on Military projects involving high levels of quality control and testing.
