EXPERIENCE
General Business Manager, RMJ Inc. Laundromat and Dry Cleaning Services, Knoxville, TN, 2008 to Present. Manages family business of laundromat and dry cleaning stores. Responsible for equipment operations, maintenance and purchasing. Manages business and finance.
Senior Design Engineer, Monogram Refrigeration LLC, Selmer, TN, 2000 to 2008 Exclusive supplier of high end built-in refrigerators for the GE Monogram line of products. Project manager for model lines and responsible for developing test plans for new product, and implementing GE QA/QC production standards and responding to customer feedback to implement change or root cause an issue. Using finite element analysis and various Six Sigma methods, implemented design changes that reduced service calls by 80% in some cases and demonstrated their reliability. Spearheaded several different tooling operations to get better quality and less expensive parts. Saved the company $400K utilizing Six Sigma methodologies and practices in implementing new designs. Utilized ASTM & AISI Material specifications, destructive and non-destructive weld examination and testing requirements for product lines. Developed procurement specifications, budgets and manufacturing schedules and qualified machinery for new domestic and an international refrigerator models. Conducted supplier audits for new parts for design and determined their capability to supply those parts according to customer needs and specification.
Quality Engineer, Hawthorne Production Stamping, Celina, TN, Nov 1998 Dec 1999 Supplier of automotive airbag canisters for domestic and imported automobiles. Managed the production part approval process (PPAP), including programming the coordinate measuring machines and completing the first piece paperwork, to PFMEAs, Control Plans, etc. Completed all metrology and material testing according to ASTM standards, and maintained document control, made sure parts consistently met the acceptance criteria, and compliance according to print and tracked any deviations. Achieved successful QS9000 quality certification. Developed welding testing procedures and inspected and tested all welds according to industry and print standards. Performed all on site metrology and tracking methods for incoming raw material quality control and handled non-compliances on site and at customer locations. Performed internal audits.
Quality Control Engineer, Coors Technical Ceramics, Oak Ridge, TN, May 1995- Nov 1999 Performed inspections, documentation and certification for production parts. Programmed coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and CNC measuring equipment for parts used in the semiconductor industry. Certified parts were in accordance to customer specifications using electronic and manual measuring tools. Reduce setup time up to 80% for some manufacturing processes by designing fixtures that used the same coordinate system 100% of the time. Implemented a training regime for incoming inspectors that shorten the learning curve. Developed new measurement techniques and resolve measurement discrepancies according to the GD&T that was on the print.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, Tennessee, 1994 Associates of Science, Mechanical Engineering, Pellissippi State College, Knoxville, Tennessee, 1991 Nuclear Construction and Startup Certification, Southern Polytechnic State University, Marietta Georgia, (Oct 2009-Nov 2009). This 64 hour curriculum was developed with funding from the US NRC and technical support from the ASME Board of Nuclear Codes & Standards. The course introduces participants to the nuclear power industry and educates them to the legal requirements for nuclear power plant design, licensing and operation as well as the nuclear regulatory and code requirements for construction and startup. Special attention was given to OSHA requirements, fire protection, cranes and heavy lifts, welding and brazing and emergency planning. Nuclear Quality Assurance / Quality Control Certification, Southern Polytechnic State University, Marietta, Georgia (April 2010-May 2010) Completed the 32 hour nuclear QA/QC course which is an introduction to nuclear QA/QC program requirements, understanding the 18 criteria, development and implementation of QA procedures, NQA-1 compliance, ITAAC requirements (Inspection, Testing, Analysis and Acceptance Criteria), and training and certification for special skilled labor and professionals.
