SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Motorola Communications and Electronics

Design engineer. I developed sales proposals for large scale radio and telemetry systems and served as chief project engineer through installation. I predicted radio coverage based on system equipment and terrain. I was a specialist in radio coverage prediction, frequency multiplexing for crowded transmission sites, and emergency services system designs.

Project manager. I installed dispatch centers, mountain top equipment and remote control and monitoring systems for government agencies. I managed installers and worked with customer engineers and technicians.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Project manager / instrumentation engineer on large scale project teams in the worlds largest wind tunnels. The goal was high speed data acquisition. My specialty was measurement uncertainty, noise and grounding. I also assisted with controls of jet engines, helicopter systems, parachutes, and many other electromechanical systems including high pressure air, hydraulics and pneumatics.

I invented the first highly accurate sonic calibrator, mating the study of wind pressure with acoustics and ballistics. I was written up in Aviation Week Magazine for the highest accuracy measurements of air pressures ever made. I was responsible for thousands of measurements taken simultaneously at the highest data rates ever achieved.

I supervised 20 technicians on 5 projects at a time in 5 different wind tunnels.

Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC)

Manager, WESTRACK, a 2 mile, oval test track designed to run 4 driverless semi trucks in 2 lanes. Triple trailer trucks with the first automatic transmissions and antilock braking systems were used. The project was a consortium between NATC, the Federal Highway Commission, Nevada Department of Transportation, the University of Nevada Reno, Good Year, Shell Oil, and a second private engineering firm. The trucks tracked the lane via a wire buried under the center of the lane. This effort was primarily to test different asphalt mixtures sectioned in the track for use on highways.

I also participated in accident recreation and vehicle durability tests as electrical engineer.

International Game Technology (IGT)

Product assurance engineer. Responsible for the correct operation of IGT's games. My job was to document the departments expertise, test equipment and tools, and develop test plans, procedures, and quality assurance measures for the test of all slot machine functions and game operations. I integrated the software change report with the test requirements document, discrepancy reporting system, and test result reports.

I developed a complete set of test scripts, automatic test reporting methods, and automatic test script updating as new software malfunctions were found. I began all ISO 9000 procedures and documents for electrical engineering and software development and got the company certified in one year. I supervised all test engineers in the department for proper test methodology and new test development for radically new systems. I was responsible for all test audits. I was the key person for quality assurance in engineering.

I managed a company wide project team (50+ people) for conversion to meet Europes Restriction of Hazardous Substances. I coordinated all efforts to eliminate all products containing any of 6 hazardous substances from the supply chain. This not only required supply chain conversion and new receiving inspection procedures but all engineering documentation standards, the company change review procedures and implementation of a new electronics parts database.
