MAJOR CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS While employed with Ace Asphalt in Arizona, was able to produce $14.5 m of Heavy Maint. Work at an average of 10% higher GP than was bid. Was the no.1 GP producer in Heavy Maint over the three years I worked there. Built solid relationships with customers, field personnel & fellow PM's and sales personnel in the office. Helped take the paving crews to another level of quality and production by example and encouragement.
While with the Rogers Group in Martinsville, was able to re-established companys presence as a competitive, competent & quality paving contractor in Morgan & Brown counties. When I went to work there they had about 25% - 35% of the market. When I left they had approx. 65% of the market. While working there I was appointed to the Board of Directors of The Martinsville Chamber of Commerce and was asked to be on the Economic Development Committee for Morgan County. I also was asked to join the Rotary Club in Martinsville.
While with VS Engineering acted as the Field Supervisor on an $8M concrete paving project, including three new bridge structures for the State of Indiana. This helped solidify them as a capable construction management company with the State of Indiana.
While with Shelly & Sands as an area superintendent, I helped increase annual work from $3M to $11M annually over a four-year period. Helped establish them as a major Heavy Highway player in Indianapolis. During this time built the Airport Expressway project with Berns Construction. This project had 86,000 tons of asphalt and was completed in approx. 8 months. It also had approx.12-15 different phases. In charge of projects from $20,000 to $6,000,000, with multiple projects occurring at the same time. Other major projects included:$1.5 Million resurface project near Pittsboro.$1.5 Million resurface project on SR 37 North of Noblesville, IN.$3.5 Million project on 116th Street in Carmel, IN.
While with E & B Paving an area superintendent, I helped establish them as a major Heavy Highway co. in the Indianapolis market. I oversaw several large interstate highway, municipal & airport projects bringing them to successful completion and in all cases within budget. In charge of projects from $20,000 to $4,000,000.Resurfaced three sections of I-65, built a new interchange with Berns Construction on the east side at I-70 and Shadeland Avenue. Built new six-lane section of US 31 from Epler Avenue to Greenwood with Milestone Contractors. EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY
MRM Construction Services, Inc., Phoenix, Az. Jan. 2009 Mar.2010 Pre-Construction Manager/Estimator Responsibilities included estimating grading, concrete curb, sidewalk, PCCP and asphalt paving projects. I was also in charge of the submittal process, PO's, subcontracts and setting up of budgets and processing all info for the field personnel to build the project. I was involved in negotiations with several government entities. Some of these were the Army Corp of Engrs., the Marine base in Yuma, Luke AFB, DM AFB in Tucson and the Border Patrol in Nogales.
Ace Asphalt, Inc., Phoenix, Az, Aug 2005 Aug 2008 Project Manager/ Estimator Responsibilities included bidding grading and paving projects; mainly for commercial construction projects. I was required to take the bid, if successful, from start to finish. I oversaw the construction of the project and coordinate all phases of the project including scheduling of subcontractors.
Butler Fairmen & Seufert Engineering, Indianapolis, In. 2004 - Jul 2005 Project Manager/ Inspector Responsibilities included inspecting and managing on a $28 mil. post tension bridge that is part of the new $148 mil. I-70 entrance to the new airport terminal. I was also assigned to a bridge replacment project in Rush Co. in Indiana.
A & F Engineering, LLC, Indianapolis, Indiana 2003 - Nov.2003 Project Manager Responsiblities included inspecting and managing INDOT and DPW projects. Was involved as a Project Manager on a $ 1.6 million roadway reconstruction project in Carmel, In. Also inspecting sidewalk and curb replacement project for INDY DPW. I am also certified to do INDOT inspection and testing.
Barrett Paving Material, Inc., Wilder, Kentucky Apr. 2002 - Nov. 2002 Estimator Responsible for planning take-offs primarily on DOT projects. Submit estimates to prospective customers for work to be performed. Use of HCSS computer bidding to produce estimates. Helped bid a $17 million interstate project on I-75.Duties also include Project Management for a $10 mil. project on I-75 South of Florence, KY.
Rogers Group, Inc., Bloomington/Martinsville, Indiana2000 - 2002 Estimator / Project Manager Hired to re-establish the Rogers Group as a construction presence in the Morgan and Brown County area. Established a very good relationship with all of the local political figures, business people, and developers. Apex Paving, Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana1996 - 1999 Estimator / Project Manager Estimated Commercial paving contracts. Responsibilities included meeting with customers, advising them of their needs, measuring the areas, preparing estimates, selling the jobs, managing the construction, and invoicing the projects when completed. V.S. Engineering, Inc., Decatur, Indiana1995 - 1996 Project Manager Project Supervisor over all field construction on an $8 Million new four-lane INDOT project in Decatur, IN. Project included three new bridges and was built in two phases over two seasons. Inspected storm sewer video inspection for Indianapolis DOT and assisted on design of the I-70 Post Road interchange.

State of Indiana Department of Transportation, 1983 - 1988 Inspector / Project Supervisor1970 - 1981 Began as an Inspector on SR 37 in Bedford, IN. Worked on three year project that included rock and dirt excavation and fill, asphalt and concrete paving, bridges, paved side ditches, pipes, caves, sinkholes, settlement pins, piezometers, seed, sod, surveying, and cross sections. Promoted to Assistant Project Supervisor while on that project. Also supervised projects from guardrail to resurface projects on US 31 North of Indianapolis to bridge deck overlay projects on I-65 and I-465. In 1984, worked in Central office as an assistant to the Field Engineers. Compiled information on all ongoing projects in the state, wrote specifications, and was on the Failed Materials Committee.
Indianapolis Airport Authority, Indianapolis, Indiana1981 - 1983 Project Manager / Res. Inspector Surveyed, designed, wrote specifications, advertised for bids, inspected, and performed all other related work for two small roadway projects. Compiled a five-year maintenance study for the Indianapolis International Airport and all satellite airports, roadways, and parking areas.
