Dear Human Resources,
My name is Andrew Cotter, I am a recent college graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. I am interested in an entry level full time position with opportunities for advancement. I like working as a team and taking a proactive approach to certain issues. That is the only way a project can be completed. I was president and vice president of my fraternity and an assistant instructor in the scuba diving class at my university. I was also in the Student Constructors organization at my university as well. During my summers at school I worked to try and gain some different types of experience. I worked at The Outfitter and Harrys Dive shop where I was able to interact with many different types of customers. I also worked at EACCO where I did metal and steel fabrication. I made steel and aluminum doors for the coast guard, navy, and many other ship yards. I learned to weld with a MIG gun, use a plasma cutter, and work with heavy machinery used to fabricate the doors. I also worked with Trees Unlimited and KC Crane in New Orleans. While there I was in charge of ground maintenance. This included heavy and light machinery maintenance, use of many different types of heavy and light equipment, the removal of trees and the operation of a 15 ton crane. My current employment is with Burkhalter Rigging a heavy lift heavy haul company. We are currently finishing up at the Thyssenkrupp Steel Mill in Calvert, AL. Burkhalters contract included the mechanical installation of a Hot Strip Mill. My duties include logistics coordinator and procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies. I am a very motivated individual and I like to work hard. I have a lot of skills which were developed in and out of school and I want to put them to good use. I am not afraid to try something new and I like to interact with different people. I hope you will give me the opportunity to show you what I can do. I will contact you in the next two weeks to see if you require any additional information regarding my qualifications.
Sincerely,
Andrew Cotter
