Mr. Lenz has over 20 years of commercial and industrial construction experience in the field and management level. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced with all the aspects of building construction. He has strong written and oral communication skills. He is skilled with the coordinating of large and complex fast track projects. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of construction and construction project management; including developing and implementing budgets, processing of change orders, requisition review, value engineering, scheduling, safety, QA/QC, monitoring and supervising trade contractor work, construction means and methods, testing, commissioning, training and meeting owners project requirements. He is well versed and experienced in local and national building codes.
Project Specific Experience
United States Postal Service (USPS) Springfield BMC Expansion/Interior (FSS Deployment) Project, Springfield, MA (05/2008 - Present) $24,000,000 Assistant to the Construction Manager acting as an Owners Representative for USPS for renovation of existing structure and the additional new space to support the Flats Sortation System (FSS) upgrade. Provided Construction Management services for Bid/Build contract work for phased construction activities.
Roles and responsibilities: staff augmentation to perform estimates, developing and processing of modifications (change orders) in the amount of $200,000. Performed onsite management of Design/Bid contractors during multi-phased construction project. Phase I and II involved the demolition and removal of existing underground utilities installation of 1600 linear feet of two way access road, a new facility parking lot consisting of approximately 410 parking spaces and 12 ADA spaces, 2200 LF of 4 high pressure gas main, 1700 LF of fiber optic phone and data cabling, infrastructure improvements that included 370 LF of HDPE storm drainage pipe. Phase III activities included core and shell construction of a 130,000 SF prefabricated steel building that included 7 gas fired 490,000 BTU air handing units, 4000A building electrical service, a 150 psi compressed air system, connection of new fire alarm to existing system and provided tie-in of telephone and security video systems. Responsible for managing project budget, presided over project meetings, providing weekly and monthly reports, interpreting plans and specifications, issuing clarifications to contractor, review, negotiate, prepare and manage $1.3 million in change orders, requisition review and approval, review contractors schedule, safety and QA/QC plan for compliance with USPS goals and requirements, participate in design review process and coordinate building and renovation activities with national and local USPS personnel.
