A 210,000 man-hour boiler retrofit project to upgrade two 600 MW, PC boilers involving union craft labor for installation of new Secondary Superheat Outlet Headers and Outlet Steam Leads. Replaced entire SSH II outlet pendants and bottle headers. Completed replacement of entire reheat intermediate and outlet bundles including stringer tubes requiring engineered support of 1.4 million pound economizer located below.

Supervised erection crew on two 650 MW Foster Wheeler PC boilers on final FGD tie-in outage between 100% scrubbing SO2 units for new chimney, supplying and erecting steel support structures, and installing new FGD stainless steel ductwork assemblies. Scope of work encompasses demolition of old ductwork and by-pass units, with structural steel removal and installation. Additionally handle setting all pieces, alignment, saddle installations, mig track weld-out, handrail, expansion joints, and chimney tie-in along with drains and piping.

Worked closely and effectively with Central Region Construction Manager to propose and estimate removal, dismantle, packaging, and shipping of two new units for $50 million dollar project encompassing disassembly of both units with all associated HRSG parts and equipment and moving them to Canada. Contract additionally included heavy lift and gantry cranes, rail spur improvements, heavy rigging, rail and ground transportation.

Executed compressed parallel schedule for long-term maintenance outages, including replacement of SH III spray liners, refractory and grid floors, center ash drains and thermal spray for both furnaces. Scope included water jet blasting and detailed NDE inspection and mapping of furnace areas, back pass, and air preheaters.

Pt. Aconi Power Plant (2004)
Oversaw 90,000 man-hour, boiler re-vitalization project to upgrade 250 MW, CFB boiler. Work scope involved installation of new evaporative division wall complete with all interconnecting piping. New superheater and reheater installations required seven additional feet of surface to be added to the twelve existing wingwalls.

Designed, supplied, and erected modular replacement airheaters on two existing 82 MW, Pyropower CFB units. Job included installation of three new slide plate stainless steel loopseal expansion joints. The retrofit also required sootblower and piping modifications, tube shield, and baffle plate installations.

Quezon Power Plant (2002)
Evaluated existing boiler functional condition and determined components susceptible to premature failure; developed baseline for future mapping of boiler and associated equipment. Scope included: visual, dye checks, magnetic particle examination, shear wave ultrasonic examination, diametrical examination, fiberscopic examination, and radiography. Removed and replaced test tubes along with any unacceptable pressure parts.

Supervised nine local union contractors on construction installation and upgrade retrofit of new air heater for 35 MW Riley Stoker Unit. Construction included new nozzle tips, damper and yaw linkages with drives and all structural steel and duct modifications along with replacement of 24-top and bottom air compartment nozzles, 12 existing oil compartment nozzles/diffusers, and modular upgrade of internal and external nozzle-adjusting mechanisms.

Tasked with increasing capacity of existing bio-fuel injection system the Phase 2 construction including addition of fourth injection blower and modifications to existing injection bin to accept additional screw conveyor and airlock. Additionally installed walking floor conveyor, collision mill, cyclone and dust collector. Programmed and installed Slick 501 computer to allow automated control of sawdust to either unit.

Participated in Lo-Nox burner project for complete demolition of all piping, mechanical and electrical systems on burner decks with new reinstallation involving tertiary / scanner / blanket air / boiler seal air, and coal conduits. Installed power and instrument cables, primary air measuring system, primary / auxiliary air flowmeter systems with termination to DCS. Removed and reinstalled roof, pendant superheater and convection reheater tubes.
