SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Spearheaded all phases of a $118M road reconstruction project in Afghanistan from time and material costs estimation to quality and cost control maintenance, schedule, regulatory compliance, documentation, and stakeholder relations
Increased the productivity of a group of designers, draftsmen and inspectors through introducing and implementing innovative work methods, eliminating artificial barriers, and facilitating programs, which motivated staff.
Successfully completed the fast track construction of Pine Falls Effluent Treatment Plant, a 30,000 cubic meter per day paper mill effluent plant within 10 months while ensuring compliance to the environmental regulations. (Construction value: $25M)
Completed a generator replacement project conducted in an operating power plant resulting to no unscheduled plant shutdowns, as well as worked in The Pointe du Bois Generator Replacement project, removal of the vintage 1908 generator, reconstruction of the draught tube, and preparation for the installation of the generator assembly.
Achieved zero unscheduled shutdowns on projects being managed, including the Dry Debarking Conversion project in Fort Frances Ontario, which involved the removal of the wet debarking system and installation of three dry debarkers.
Successfully managed multiple assignments such as the development and implementation of a 20-year major maintenance program for an airport through working on the documentation of proposals for the delivery of services in the maintenance and operation of large-scale facilities.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Led and directed three road projects on a USAID-funded infrastructure reconstruction program in Afghanistan which had a total budget of US $1.4 billion. Simultaneously managed the design phase and preliminary engineering phase of two road reconstruction projects valued US $200 million while managing the construction phase of another road project valued at US $118 million.
Worked in a variety of construction projects including airfield upgrades, major building remodeling, municipal works, heavy industrial, environmental restoration, and agricultural research infrastructure.
Served as Project Manager, on all phases of the reconstruction of Keshim Faizabad Road, a 103 km long road in Northeastern Afghanistan, as well as the design phase of Gardez Khost and Ghazni Gardez roads in Southeastern Afghanistan.
Ensured compliance of projects to strict guidelines and regulatory standards for roads constructions including AASHTO, US standards, and strict grade and sight line limitations followed in the USA, Canada and other developed nation for medium traffic volume road.
Assumed full responsibility in all aspects of multi-discipline project management including field-testing, inspection of construction materials, contract management, scheduling, and financial controls.
CONSULTING AND PRACTICAL BUSINESS
Provided construction management and engineering consulting services to a wide-spectrum of projects, including emergency dike construction, Hydro Electric Plant upgrading, Industrial and Municipal Effluent Control Plants, as well as commercial, industrial and municipal works.
Ran and operated an engineering consulting firm.
Extended construction project management services for a wide-range of industries including commercial, heavy industry, mining and pulp paper, airports and associated facilities, water resources and flood control, hydroelectric, infrastructure, institutional and municipal works in Canada, Asia and Europe.
