Duties: Monitored contractors Quality Control program and construction practices to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations, and contract specifications. Conducted QA testing of materials in field and laboratory settings (soils, soils/aggregate, aggregate, PCC paving, structural concrete, and asphalt) using industry test procedures (ex: AASHTO, ASTM, WAQTC), and specialized testing equipment. Monitored/followed environmental regulations. Reviewed and recommended project specs, special provisions and plan changes. Troubleshot failures in materials and workmanship, recommending solutions in a positive and constructive manner.
Field-designed solutions for vertical and horizontal grades. Digitally mapped areas; set project control points (stations and off-sets), verified proper grade alignments (slope-staking), set survey locations, and grades for new construction. Duties: Street foreman for paving projects; assigned personnel to various tasks. Lead worker on cold-inplace recycle (CIR) team. Crusher and small AC plant operator. Performed specialized assignments: highway realignments, building passing lanes and road approaches, shoulder widening, safety slopes, and installing culverts and cattle guards. Operated all manner of construction equipment, to perform routine construction (excavation, road leveling, backfilling, piling and grading). Routinely operated crusher and small AC plant.
