ACCOMPLISHMENTS While consulting at the YWCA of Greater Portland, I streamlined the accounting operations, consistently providing financial statements to the core management team within 7 business days of month-end, rather than 2 - 3 months after the fact. I also oversaw all of the year-end audit prep work, completing all documentation, reconciliations and schedules in order to begin the annual audit 1 month after year-end and resulting in a clean management letter. Previously the annual audits had been conducted 4 - 6 months after year end. Discovered and documented extensive evidence of embezzlement in two companies, working with law enforcement to obtain a conviction of the embezzler. I also designed a system and implemented new controls at each business to minimize the possibility of reoccurrence. Developed a simple, more accurate procedure for quarterly physical inventory count at 29 retail stores, a warehouse and a manufacturing facility, resulting in a 1st quarter change from a $250,000 loss to a $75,000 gain, with additional gains each quarter due to reductions in wasted materials. Researched and identified duties performed by WA site remediation teams going back 21 months, proving an error in the state audit and resulting in a $750,000 reduction in the company's workers' comp audit bill.
