QUALIFICATIONS:
Over the past fifteen years, beginning as an equipment operator, I have worked up to the position of General Superintendent. I have worked on $3.6 to $54 million dollar projects. This has allowed me to gain extensive excavation experience in highway, bridge and site construction. I am currently a licensed grading contractor for the state of North Carolina and have a VTCA/VDOT Erosion and Sediment Control Contractor Certification card.
Served as extensive sub-contractor support for all subs on Phillips, SLS Contracting, Stone Contracting, Curtis L. Jones and Granite project sites. Strong customer relation skills; able to negotiate effectively at any level; experienced in working with major corporations and private individuals while maintaining a high quality of work and thorough documentation for federal, state and municipal projects, as well as North Carolina and Virginia county inspection codes and DOT standards and regulations, and has been a trenching and excavation competent person since 1995.

Superintendent March 2008 to November 2009
Set up Phillips Hardy, VA VDOT heavy highway road realignment project from day one. Responsible for all day to day operations for this $3.6 million dollar project, which included all job and subcontractor scheduling, ordering all supplies, and the hiring and discharging of project employees. Served as the on site Erosion and Sediment Control person and handle all inspections, working closely with VDOT inspectors. Accountable for all payroll time records, tracking quantities for the job, and for billing VDOT and submitting VDOT reports, including daily reports for VDOT, three week look ahead and 60 day schedules. Responsible for all lane closures and maintaining traffic control for entire project. Conduct all VDOT training. Finished project in June 2009 under budget and on time.
Worked on the Henderson, KY route 60 widening project. In charge of the excavating of new roadway, placement of stone, and fine grading of sub grade and stone base for asphalt. Laid off due to lack of work.

Organized SLS Contracting in January of 2005. The company began by excavating structural footers and moved on to work with residential and commercial business projects doing site grading, including moving on-site borrow and off-site borrow per SOW on all projects. With jobs ranging from $5,000 to $230,000, SLS Contracting acted as subcontractor for larger local companies such as Metrocon, Steel Dynamics, and Landmark. As owner of this company, my experience has allowed me to manage and schedule employees, subcontractors, deliveries, solve day to day problems along with crisis situations, time management, equipment operations and maintenance, hiring of all employees, and be responsible for the company budget. Served as primary contact for all incoming jobs and acted as project estimator and bidder. Due to economic conditions within the construction industry, the company was closed in March of 2008.

Organized and attended all sub-contractor, pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, accounted for all foremens daily reports for each jobsite and led the safety program and training for the entire company, including weekly Tool Box Meetings.

Responsible for scheduling sub-contractors, ordering supplies, and keeping records of job costs. Set up traffic control patterns for I-85 and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent for the final 18 months of this project. Set up traffic control patterns for other job sites and street repair sites. Prepared sub-grade, placed stone base, fine graded, and placed binder and surface, and milled asphalt for streets and roads. Laid pressure tested and treated sewer and water lines, laid reinforced concrete pipes, built catch basins, set forms for curb and gutter on pharmaceutical campuses, apartment complexes, residential subdivisions, and streets and roads throughout the Raleigh-Durham area. Set up traffic control for job sites as well as street repair. Well familiar with all traffic control procedures for the state of North Carolina on construction sites as well as for street repair.

Responsible for maintaining all systems of the engine room under the proper specifications set by the Navy Propulsion Regulation. Acted as 3-M Maintenance Man responsible for maintaining all Engine Room Equipment and proper records. Later assisted supervisor on equipment maintenance scheduling. Operated 600 and 1200 pound steam turbine driven pumps and main engines. Made potable and feed water which also included testing and treating all incoming water.
