I cut my teeth doing underground Fiber Optic lines in Newport News and have been in the industry since. I've run every underground utility outside of Natural Gas. I have dedicated my life since I was 18 to learning this work and have become well versed in it. I've spent the last year operating the Excavator and the track loader. I'm very proficient with a Fork Lift, wheel loader, backhoe, roller, off-road dump truck, trencher, compactor, Rock hammer attatchment, Fuchs Material handlers, LaBounty Mobile Shear, bobcat, and a GE 80 Tonner Locomotive. Former employee of a Richmond Based railroad contractor and worked as a Car repair tech.(Carman) and ReRail worker while there. While there I gained torch cutting and welding experience as well as general fabrication. I'm very skilled at mechanical duty which has a broad range in it's self. I do most of my own automotive work and this has ranged from routine maint. to engine, transmission, and power train swaps. While I'm not skilled enough in their rebuild, I would like to learn. I'm very competent at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems. I've worked for Advance Auto Parts and Autozone helping customers do the same. I'm proficient at tools like multimeters, various testers, and numerous other devices. I was also previously trained as an armed security officer 3yrs ago and worked in that field for almost a year as well. In the years I've spent in the construction industry, I've accumulated the following certifications as well:
OSHA 10 hour Certification (2008) 5 OSHA Certifications (2002) Trenching and Excavating, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Telecommunications Worker.
2 Railroad Certifications (2006) CSX On-Track Certification NS On-Track Certification
Laser Operator Certification
CPR Certified (2007) CPR/AED Certified (2008)
First Aid Certified (2007)
VDOT Flagman's Certification (2009)
CDL A Class Learner's Permit
I am also a CERT Team member for the city of Richmond (Community Emergency Response Team). I have also attended SHEC training through my last company and would like to continue pursuant of my training to be a supervisor. I have spent the last year in the scrap metal industry and have gotten away from my underground skills a little bit. However, most of the skills I have picked up while away can also be applied to the pipeline industry as well. I would like to continue my growth with a very stable company as these Lay-Offs are becoming quite troublesome.
