Major Representative Projects:
Commercial: Offshore Structures, Carnival Cruises Terminal within Long Beach Harbor, Long Beach, CA: Engineer- Supervised the Indicator Pile Driving Program for offshore structures comprising of a proposed new Carnival Cruises terminal within the harbor. As an engineer during the driving of production piles for the offshore terminal, supervised the driving of 2300 Plumb and Batter concrete octagonal piles from a floating barge for various off shore structures like Vehicular Traffic Bridge, Pier, Mooring and Breasting Dolphins. A total of 288 octagonal concrete piles (In the Ocean) and 8 hollow steel batter and shaft piles were driven in this project. Further, supervised CIDH pile installation work for the Bus and Walkway Canopy. Park at Harbor View at Long Beach, CA: Engineer- Supervised pile-driving work for this development project, which consisted of a number of high-rise buildings for commercial and residential use, multi-level parking structures, recreational facilities, and other related improvements. The project had about 2500 pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete piles of different capacities. Bridge Construction; IUDA Grade Separator at the City of Industry, CA: Engineer- Supervised pile-driving operations for construction of a bridge. The project used approximately 180 steel piles of 25 and 30 feet lengths. Shoring: soldier pile installation at city of Fullerton, CA: Supervised shoring for multi-storied apartment complex, and was responsible for the installation of 180 steel piles, 30 feet in length and 35-inches in diameter. Maintained detailed records of the above information, prepared daily and weekly status reports for the client and project manager, and compiled the final report at the end of the work. Geo-Technical Investigation, grading report and its Slope Stability Analysis for the Ortega Freeway, Crystal Cove Development and for Pepperdine University using GSTBL software, 7.4 Version. Independent Consulting and Post Doctoral Research: 1995-2000 Geo-Technical Consultants for the international oil companies like schlumberger limited, British petroleum (BP), Indian Oil Company (IOC), Shell and Burma oil companies for their field geotechnical investigations and writing complete and factual test reports etc. Reports include identifying, maintaining, and/or adjusting the scope and/or resources, & overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting project performance. Performing reconnaissance survey of the subject site, critical review and assessment of the problems involved, analyzing the facts, suggesting remedies, creating and evaluating technical reports. Proposal, cost estimates, design and analysis to clients, troubleshooting and report. Performed detailed field investigation, subsequently conducted laboratory tests to perform data design & analysis leading to the final reports. Post Doctoral Research: Data analysis using Soil Cement Fly ash mixtures, interactions and determining its relative shear strength parameters values using tri-axial, consolidation, settlement analysis, seismic parameters, centrifuge soil samples using liquid nitrogen at -300 degree centigrade which helps in analyzing soil-fly ash-cement interactions, without disturbing initial soil structure using centrifuge data and analysis and developing relative centrifuge modeling, atomic adsorption spectrophotometer and its relative final geotechnical reports.
Teaching: 1986-1989: Taught for Undergraduate, Graduate and for Masters degree students regarding design criteria and acceptance tests, critiquing the performance of the test, evaluating the test results, setup and evaluating test papers. Teaching/training graduate students in Strength of Materials, Concrete technology, fluid mechanics and machinery design, Survey, Soil mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Static, Dynamic, Seismic, performing laboratory tests, field applications and related case histories.
