2001 - 2002 Kingston, TN WALL'S ELECTRIC Mechanical Estimator
Hired into this mechanical plumbing service contracting company as an estimator in an effort to expand the company's electrical services for government contract projects. Served as the mechanical estimator for Wall's Electric preparing cost plus bid proposals in response to government RFP's. Analyzed blueprints, specifications, proposal requests, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates and forecasts; submitted material requirements to vendors and subcontractors to obtain price quotes; and gathered all pricing information to prepare/submit bid proposals. Prepared comprehensive bids for the following Y-12 government projects:
K-25: Developed the bid proposal for a $10-$15 million joint venture project with Parson's Engineering for the removal of stored waste from the U-Building at the K-25 site in Oak Ridge, TN.
X-10: Prepared estimate for an $875,000 - $1million installation project involving a full-time, 8-12 person crew for 2-3 months. Project involved installing a 4 mile plastic fusion natural gas line to feed the Spallation Neutron Source project in Oak Ridge, TN.
TVA: Estimated the installation of an HVAC system in a new office building located at the coal unloading facility at TVA's Bull Run Steam Plant near Oak Ridge, TN. Wall's Electric was awarded the $80K project. Developed the bid proposal for a $500K maintenance project at the TVA plant in Clarksville, TN. Project involved adding scrubbers to prevent carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere.
1987 - 2001 Knoxville, TN D.F. SHOFFNER Field Superintendent / Estimator / Project Manager
Initially worked as a plumbing apprentice for four years before leaving the company for a year and a half to serve as an Estimator / Project Manager for Gateway Mechanical. Returned to Shoffner in 1987 to serve as the Field Superintendent over the Lenoir City Middle School project that was successfully completed in one year. Following the project's completion, progressed into the Estimator / Project Manager position with responsibilities for managing individual jobs ranging from $5,000 to $7.5 million and overseeing multiple, simultaneous projects with a combined value of up to $15 million at one time.
