PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

18 years of direct, on-scene hazardous waste cleanup experience on USEPA Emergency Response Cleanup Services (ERCS) and Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contracts in Regions II, III, IV, V, and VI.

Supervised up to 20 personnel, including operators, foremen and technicians, working from Level D through Level A PPE.

Foreman, equipment operator, and cleanup technician on a wide range of sites including plating facilities, chemical manufacturers, wood treating, battery sites, emergency/disaster sites, ore processing/smelting facilities, and fueling systems.

Operations included unknown drum excavation/removal, facility decontamination and demolition, contaminated soil excavation, on-site fixation/stabilization, water treatment facility construction and maintenance, storage tank removal/remediation, erosion and sediment control, site restoration, and off-site transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes.

Ryland Road USEPA Region III Reading Pennsylvania, September 2008 to February 2009. Operated excavator and lgp dozer excavated a 100x 100 area 3ft. deep backfilled same, drained and backfilled a 60x80 pond and made a drainage basin for three springs to drain, restoring the area to a wetlands.
Brooke Glass USEPA Region III, Weirton West Virginia, May 2008 to July 2008. Operated a long reach excavator, dozer w/winch, and a track truck. Cleaned up glass cullet dumped over the side of a steep slope. Built roads to bottom of slope scraped all cullet up, installed super silt fence w/riprap for erosion control on creek edge.
Ryland Road USEPA Region III, Reading, Pennsylvania, January 2007 to April 2008. Operated excavator, dozer, rubber tire loader, mini excavator, water truck, sheepsfoot and smooth drum rollers. Digging in depths up to 12 feet deep in water table to remove arsenic contaminated soils. Backfill and compact excavation nightly

Excavated 2 ft. off of a 6-acre site. Leaving trees for the park. Placed geo fabric as an indicator. Placed 2 ft of backfill including sloping of a riverbank to a 2 to 1 slope. Operated excavator, dozer, bobcat, and track loaders.

Westwood Chemical, USEPA Region II, Middletown, New York, January to February 2006. Tilled 1.5 acres, added lime to adjust PH, graded, fertilized and planted grass. Operated a roto tiller and dozer.

Hurricane Katrina, USEPA Region VI, New Orleans, Louisiana, October to November 2005. Responded to two significant landfill fires in Saint Bernard Parrish. Operations included leveling and sifting through land filled debris piles to extinguish fires with water cannons. Operated track hoes and dozers.

Hog Island, USEPA Region V, Superior, Wisconsin, August to October 2005. Excavated, loaded, and performed extensive restoration on 0.5 mile of creek and 17 acres of an inlet, all requiring dewatering to perform restoration. Equipment operated included track hoes, dozers, bobcat, and sky track.

Gilbert Lead Site, USEPA Region V, Chicago, Illinois, June to July 2005. Loaded out lead-contaminated soils and restored excavated areas. Operated a track hoe and a dozer.

Eagle Pitcher, USEPA Region V, Toledo, Ohio, January to April 2005. Installed three 400-foot-long rows of gabion baskets beside a creek to keep lead-contaminated soils from leaching. Sloped above wall to a 2:1 grade, installed geo-fabric, and covered it with riprap. Loaded out over 4,000 cubic yards of lead-contaminated soils. Operated a track hoe, track loader, and dozer.

Tar Lake Site, USEPA Region V, Mancelona, Michigan, June to August 2004. Lead operator working in Level D PPE. Removed topsoil from 5-acre site, stockpiled 20,000 tons of slag material, excavated 22,000 tons of tar material for load out, and backfilled slag material.

Stanton Cleaners / Claremont Site, USEPA Region II, Long Island, New York, January to June 2004. Working in Levels B and C PPE, performed maintenance on water treatment facilities, which included replacing spent carbon and cleaning of lines and systems. Operated backhoe and forklifts.

Roscoe Wood, USEPA Region II, Roscoe, New York, November 2003. Lead operator working in Level D PPE. Excavated, stockpiled, backfilled, and graded backyard and adjoining lot. Operated track hoes and dozers.

Carl's Tire Site, USEPA Region V, Traverse City, Michigan, August to November 2003. Lead operator working in Levels C and D PPE. Excavated approximately 6.5 feet of sandy soil contaminated with pyrolitic oil in groundwater over an area of 50 yards by 50 yards. Stockpiled and loaded out soils. Graded out site. Operated dozers, track hoes, track loaders, and rubber-tire loaders.

Circle Smelting Site, USEPA Region VI, Carlyle, Illinois, January to June 2003. Lead operator working in Level D PPE. Excavated soil contaminated with lead in residential areas.

Genzale Plating, USEPA Region II, Long Island, New York, October to December 2002. Working in Levels C and D PPE, used saw-zaws to cut and remove all metal pipes in building (three roll-offs full). Sprayed encapsulant over inside of entire building in preparation for demolition.

Starlight Lane Tire Fire, USEPA Region III, Roanoke, Virginia, May to October 2002. Working in Levels B and C PPE, assisted firefighters in reaching fires. Constructed roads and containment areas for runoff. Loaded out tires and contaminated soil. Performed extensive grading and restoration. Operated track hoes, dozer, and track loader.

Stanton Cleaners / Claremont Site, USEPA Region II, Long Island, New York, December 2001 to May 2002. Working in Levels B and C PPE, performed maintenance on water treatment facilities, which included replacing spent carbon and cleaning of lines and systems.

World Trade Center (WTC) Disaster Site, USEPA Region II, Manhattan, New York, September to December 2001. Initially assigned to this emergency response site as the foreman responsible for four vacuum trucks and crews (20 personnel) decontaminating the financial district. Later assigned to monitor storm water outfalls for debris from WTC disaster site.

Great Neck, New York, USEPA Region II, August to September 2001. Working in Level D PPE, helped erect building for groundwater treatment facility including pipe installation, painting, concrete pouring and finishing, fence installation, and set up of trailer for mobile treatment center.

Li Tungsten OU II, USEPA Region II, Glen Cove, New York, December 2000 to March 2001. Responsible for site clearing, concrete pad construction, and excavation operations in Levels C and D PPE.

Hamburg Lead Site, USEPA Region III, Hamburg, Pennsylvania, October to December 2000. Working in Levels C and D PPE, excavated approximately 3 acres of soil up to 2-foot depths. Built gabion wall on rivers edge to control washout of soil. Backfilled excavated area and performed extensive vegetation restoration. Operated track hoe, loader and dozer.

Alabama Plating Site, USEPA Region IV, Birmingham, Alabama, January to October 2000. Worked in Levels B, C, and D PPE, to excavate contaminated soil and buried drums over a 3-acre area and at depths of up to 12 feet at this former plating facility. Loaded out soil and drums. Performed site restoration. Supervised four personnel an operator and three technicians as lead operator. Operated excavator, dozer, and track loader.

Tar Lake Site, USEPA Region V, Mancelona, Michigan, August 1998 to January 2000. Initially serving as foreman, supervised three laborers in getting trailers set up and roads cleared and built. Moved to lead operator role for tar removal. Excavated, mixed, pug milled, and treated/stabilized approximately 47,000 tons of tar. Backfilled, placed topsoil, and established water containment for excavated area. Operated a 325 long-reach excavator, 350 excavators, and dozer.
