NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
Managed and operated VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) as COO, increasing number of patients 90% and allocations from $260M to $450M. Gained full accreditation by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. Spearheaded and chaired workgroup successfully integrating Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center and Dallas VA Medical Center into VANTHCS. Enhanced smaller facility, increasing staffing 10%. Established 10 remote, community-based clinics, meeting veterans medical needs. Developed budgets and obtained resources (staffing, equipment, space, etc.), ensuring project success. Activated $153M project for 640,000 square foot clinic addition, energy plant and spinal cord injury center. Oversaw additional staffing of 200 employee and $36M equipment purchase. Activated $34M addition over a weekend, bringing newly constructed facility to full operations in 48 hours. Operations Manager, 2001 to 2007. Concurrent with Assistant Director position for four years, directed and managed all operations, including $450M budget, multiple campus facilities and 3,500 employees. Maintained and operated healthcare network for 100,000+ veterans. Managed all engineering and capital programs. Led strategic planning and tactical management. Earlier: Assistant Director, 1995 to 2005 and Associate Director Trainee, 1994 to 1995. Performed all duties jointly, as part of cohesive team, with Director.
Director of Engineering Services, Oklahoma City, OK, 1982 to 1994; Alexandria, LA, 1977 to 1981; and Amarillo, TX, 1975 to 1977. Served as resident engineer, overseeing construction projects designed by in-house staff, as well as outside architectural engineering firms. Managed multiple hospitals engineering programs for overall maintenance and strategic planning, including construction, facilities maintenance, and operations of boiler and chiller plants, space renovation and updates and plant additions.
