EXPERIENCE Hobbs+Black Associates, Inc. February 1988 to January 2009 Vice President promoted in 2004 Project Manager and Project Architect I have significant experience with all phases of design and construction while using and directing AutoCAD development documents.
As a project team leader with Hobbs+Black I was assigned to our major, repeating client who develops and operates regional shopping centers. With this national developer, I led the contract drawing and the construction administration on several projects totaling over $200 million of construction. My role in these projects included the architectural design and consultant coordination from the Design Development phase thru project close-out and certificate of occupancy. A selected list of these large-scale projects with a detailed description is attached. While these regional centers were a significant part of my work at Hobbs+Black. I was also able to join H+B design and construction teams on a full range of other projects including healthcare, office buildings, educational, religious, governmental and residential projects.
Universal Die Casting, Inc. January 1985 to January 1988 Tool Engineer, Estimator
Quotation development for high-production zinc die-castings. Identify tooling requirements, finishing, production standards, and develop piece price calculation. My previous ten years of automotive design experiences led me to this position at UDC, working directly for the company president.

Capitol View Lansing, Michigan Initial phase - Completed 2005
This high-rise speculative office building and 1250-car parking structure was my assignment as architect and project manager over several years. The nine-story, 140,000 SF steel frame building is clad with precast and offers generous expanses of glass with views of the State Capitol front lawn. The connected precast parking structure includes direct, level to level parking to the office building and also serves to ease the parking burden around the Capitol area. I managed the architectural design, from conceptual studies thru to the completion of the project with the Owner Team, the Construction Manager, the complete group of Consulting Engineers, including the Precast Contractor. After the shell was completed, I also led the interior tenant fit-out of the building for the developers client, the State of Michigan, Department of Community Health.
Shell and Parking deck Construction Cost: $35 Million.
MacArthur Center Norfolk, Virginia Completed 1999 (2 year assignment)
This new regional shopping mall with an attached 4600-car North and South Parking Decks was developed in conjunction with the City of Norfolk and the Taubman Company. It won the Best Parking Structure 2000 PCI Design Award. As Project Architect for the parking deck projects, I was responsible for directing the design consultant team selected from a list of national experts. Architectural Precast concrete and brick cladding were used on the facades to blend and complement the existing, historical context of the Hampton Roads area.
Parking Decks Construction Cost: $50 Million.
Tampa International Plaza Tampa, Florida Completed 2001(2 year assignment)
This project was a new regional shopping mall and four anchor stores with bridge attached parking decks. This design incorporated the precast structure and architectural precast concrete, pigmented with a distinctive architectural finishing. As Project Architect, my role was to lead the group of Project Consultants from Schematic Design through Project Close-out. Also included in my responsibilities was the entry Design Development and Coordination with each of the Anchor Store Architects.
Parking Deck Construction Cost: $19 Million.
Short Hills Mall Expansion Millburn, New Jersey Completed 1995 (2 year assignment)
This project was a major expansion of an existing regional shopping center that was required to remain active during the construction phase of the project, on a very tight site. My role in this project included the coordination of four anchor store installations and the respective entry connections to three, new parking structures. This project was my initial attempt at taking a lead role on a major project as the project architect. I was responsible for coordinating the design documents thru construction administration to final project close-out.
Parking Decks Construction Cost: $50 Million.
