Objective : |
I am currently serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama and providing commercial real estate development/finance consulting services. For the past 15 months I served as Vice President of Commercial Development for Daniel Corporation, in charge of all commercial development activities in Birmingham, Alabama. In this position I had been tasked with managing the development of a +500,000sf premium branded retail outlet center and the master planning, entitlement, and identification of development opportunities on a +100ac commercial mixed-use corporate campus and a +6,000ac mixed-use planned community. Due to the current economic environment development activities for this company have been put on hold and I am looking for other opportunities. I worked as Director of Development in Orlando, Florida for Taurus Investment Holdings for the prior seven years. In this position, I oversaw acquisition, disposition, and development projects across the Southeast. I sourced, reviewed, and underwrote potential land and redevelopment/value-add building acquisitions. I coordinated due diligence work on potential projects and acquisitions developed the project business plan and financial feasibility packages for equity, and coordinated debt for the projects. Upon acquisition, I implemented the project business plan, managed lease negotiations, and oversaw financial and accounting functions for the projects. Upon project stabilization, I secured permanent financing and assisted in the propertys subsequent disposition. In this capacity, I managed the acquisition of over 900,000sf of office product and 600 acres of undeveloped land totaling close to $100m in volume. During my time at Taurus I assisted in the disposition of a similar volume of stabilized real estate.
In addition to acquisition/disposition/financing activities at Taurus, this position entailed managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations for office development projects, bringing a built-out building to market from raw land. I completed and stabilized over 500,000sf of traditional and flex office product as well as the renovation of over 250,000sf of midrise office product. In addition to the typical issues associated with development and acquisition I have been exposed to a wide variety of atypical property processes including; infrastructure bond financing, condominium conversions, DRI modification, wetlands/environmental mitigation, comprehensive plan amendments, property rezone/platting, zoning code amendments, LEED design pre-certification, and both partial and total condemnation negotiations.
I graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1995 with a B.E. in Civil/Environmental engineering. I spent four years working as a project engineer on a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects and am a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in the States of Florida and Tennessee. In 2000, I obtained a Masters of Real Estate with a finance concentration at the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida. In 2002 I obtained the prestigious CCIM designation and in 2006 obtained the LEEDAP certification from the USGBC.
Through holding numerous leadership positions within the CCIM organization (including sitting on two national committees and 2005 President of the +300 member Central Florida District), involvement in NAIOP, and taking on an adjunct professor position at the University of Central Florida and the University of Alabama, I have become comfortable with integrating into local commercial real estate networks. My real estate experience, coupled with my engineering and financial education, project and personnel management experience, and strong work ethic makes me an ideal candidate to hit the ground running in an acquisition, disposition, or development team. I can be reached at 205-533-1250 should you have any questions or clarifications on my background and qualifications.
