Habitat Cabarrus is a Christian non-profit housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Cabarrus County, North Carolina through advocacy, training, support and construction of safe, decent and affordable housing.

Since our inception in 1989, Habitat Cabarrus has built more than 100 homes, serving more than 450 people. Habitat Partner Families and homeowners go through extensive training on financial literacy and home maintenance in addition to working more than 250 hours of "sweat equity" on their home and others'. Contrary to popular belief, homes are not given away, but sold to homeowners for a twenty- year mortgage with zero interest. Homeowners pay approximately $450 per month for a three-bedroom home, much less than standard rent on a similar property.
Habitat Cabarrus stresses good stewardship of funds and materials, always working efficiently and ecologically. Our construction practices follow Green Building guidelines where affordable, and our homes meet Advanced Energy guidelines, ensuring low utility bills for our homeowners. Our ReStore is based on the philosophy of "Recycle and Reuse." Donations of building materials, furniture, housewares and appliances reduce waste on jobsites and landfills, and the profits from sales go to build homes in our community.
Our program is driven by the support of volunteers like you. We rely on volunteers to work alongside our Partner Families on construction of their homes, to serve on committees promoting the welfare of our program and to work in our affiliate office and at our ReStore. We appreciate all that you do in partnering with us to build our community and eliminate poverty housing.
