We've been able to accomplish a great deal in our local communities. The facts speak for themselves and the numbers continue to grow: Homeownership: 200 affordable homes developed to-date with the assistance of CDC of Long Island. Last fiscal year, 441 families established homeownership action plans and 114 of these families purchased their first home. Rental Assistance: 1,166 affordable rental units have been developed by CDC of Long Island. Last fiscal year, 3,464 renters secured housing that was affordable, safe and secure. Business Loan Portfolio: 342 small business loans have been issued by CDC of Long Island, amounting to $9.4 million being invested in community businesses. Small business training has been provided to 965 entrepreneuers and small business owners. Last fiscal year, 81 loans were provided to small businesses investing $2.8 million. Energy Efficiency: Annually, more than 1,000 homeowners receive energy efficiency assistance for rehabilitation and energy conservation improvements, which helps homes to remain affordable and reduce energy consumption by 20-35%. Residential Lending Portfolio: 129 loans have been issued to homeowners by CDC of Long Island, investing $6.3 million. CDC of Long Island is a HUD certified housing agency since 1997. As a chartered member of NeighborWorks, CDC of Long Island is certied to meet a high standard of fiscal integrity and service performance to assist local residents in developing leadership, improving their neighborhoods, and securing decent, affordable housing. Working in partnership with others, NeighborWorks organizations are leaders in revitalizing communities and creating affordable housing opportunities for low-and moderate-income families.
