Company Description:

With green building techniques gaining momentum, Boston Green Building has become the premier green building contractor in the metro area.
Our focus is on providing clients with an alternative to "conventional" construction techniques. By introducing our clients to the range of options available to them, we tailor an outcome that is more efficient and sustainable within the scope of their project and their budget.
Its our hope that in time all building will be "green" and that consideration will always be given to the environmental impact of a project from the outset. To that end, we've chosen to offer our clients the full range of green alternatives first, especially where those options are cost competitive or equivalent to other less green options.
Today's contractors and design professionals now have a powerful set of tools for producing a greener project. The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has developed a rating system, Leadership in Energy and Evironmental Design, (LEED) that lays out basic green standards for new construction, renovation and the maintenance of existing buildings.
The LEED standard is a points based system that scores a given project on several areas of sustainability and establishes basic requirements for projects seeking LEED certification. These standards provide a useful framework for specifying smaller projects as well. Some important areas of concern include: water conservation, site management, energy efficiency and generation, materials and resources, indoor air quality.
Our LEED accreditied professionals have the training to apply these Standards to each project, whether the client is seeking project certification or simply a more efficient and sustainable home.
This approach fits particularly well in New England, where a large portion of our housing stock consists of older historic homes that are in need of updated systems but must be preserved to protect our national heritage. Here, renovation is frequently favorable to complete demolition and razing of an existing structure. And while this can be challenging, it should also be an inherently greener approach that significantly reduces waste and wasteful energy usage.
