While best known for designing and building homes for clients with discriminating tastes, Martin Brothers portfolio includes homes in all sizes and budget ranges. Martin Brothers Contracting was founded in 1965 by brothers Nelson and Virgil Martin. The brothers each had 12 years of experience working for another builder specializing in high-end homes when in 1965 they decided they would set out on their own. They set up shop just east of Wakarusa next to Nelson//s home on County Road 40. Over the years they worked their way into building high-end custom homes. They firmly believed that using the highest quality materials available and exceeding industry standard building practices would provide their customer//s with the best home possible. Nelson//s son Jeff purchased the business (and Nelson//s home) in 1996 and now handles the day-to-day operations, which includes managing as many as 18 people in the field, 2 office staff and a licensed architect. Virgil and Nelson are still involved in the company and their experience makes them an invaluable resource. Jeff naturally grew up around the business. He started out working part-time in the summer of 1976 (at the age of 14) and he started at the bottom of the ladder. Jeff understands how everything is put together, he cherishes the fact that that he learned how to do everything and is proud to carry on the Martin Brothers// love of home building. Jeff is active in the Builders Association of Elkhart County and is part of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Jeff obtained his Certified Graduate Builder (CGB??) and Certified Graduate Remodelor?? (CGR) designations in February, 2006. He is now actively seeking the Graduate Master Builder (GMB??) designation. Martin Brothers relies on our experienced crews to uphold our company//s reputation and keep customer//s happy. We have highly qualified carpenters that have been with us for more than 15, 20 and 25 years. So dedicated are our carpenters to the building industry that two of our team members have obtained their CGB designations and will soon obtain their CGR designations.
