Company Description:
For more than three decades, the experience and creativity of the Grupe team have significantly contributed to the American standard of living. Every Grupe community is designed to be socially interactive and often features homes with front porches, streets with broad sidewalks and communities with places to gather and play.
The Grupe family has played an important role in the growth of Northern California since the Gold Rush. John Carsten Grupe came to California in search of gold in 1849. When mining proved less than lucrative, John established a successful freight line from Stockton to the Mother Lode. A portion of his farm, located in Linden and purchased in 1853, is still owned by Phyllis and Fritz Grupe.
Since its beginnings, the Company has demonstrated an extraordinary sensitivity for environmental concerns. The Grupe companies take great pride in creating environments throughout the United States in which nature and people can flourish together.
The Grupe family has always demonstrated a love of the land. Over the years, the family has been involved in farming, horse and cattle ranching, award winning commercial and residential land development, habitat restoration and philanthropic endeavors.
