Company Description:
Young Detroit Builders was founded in 1993 for the purpose of assisting low-income young adults to rebuild their lives while rebuilding their communities. To fulfill this mission, we operate two programs serving approximately 150 persons each year. YouthBuild Detroit is a 10-month program for low-income Detroit residents between the ages of 18 and 24 who are unemployed and have neither a high school diploma nor a GED certificate. YBD provides training to prepare for GED tests, counseling, life and job skills, and on-site construction training. Partnership for Permanent Supportive Housing for the Homeless is a coalition of three Detroit agencies, which provide various services to meet the needs of the city's low-income and homeless population. YDB provides educational and skills assessment, GED preparation, and training in living and employability skills as needed. Our Learning Service Center is located in the parish house of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull.
