The merger with Cintra, strengthens Ferrovial's business model, which is focused on end-to-end infrastructure management, design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance. To this end, the company is active in complementary sectors, such as airport and toll road construction and operation, as well as services.
Ferrovial is a world leader in infrastructure management and has invested a total of 68.2 billion dollars since 1985, according to the annual league table published by PWF. Including the three contracts Cintra landed in 2009 increases that figure to 78 billion dollars.
Ferrovial manages landmark assets such as Heathrow airport, and the Chicago Skyway, Ausol, Autema and 407 ETR toll roads. It also provides services to more than 800 municipalities in Spain and to the millions of London Underground and Madrid Metro users.
The new company will have a market cap of close to 6 billion euro. Ferrovial is listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange and forms part of the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability, FTSE4Good and Ethibel Sustainability indices.
