Island Construction Company Inc. started as King Brothers Construction Company in the mid 1950's, headquartered on the King Brother's farms on Yonges Island, South Carolina. The King brothers, Fred, Richard, and Everett each farmed large areas of Edisto and Yonges Island, in an attempt to find work for their farm employees during the off season. Soon they worked all over the low country clearing land, ditching fields, building roads, and general earth work during periods that the men and equipment were not needed on the farms. As work volume increased, it soon became a year round job. With this increase also came the necessity to incorporate.
