Company Description:
Wright-Ryan has a company-wide commitment to sustainability. We are actively working towards producing a new generation of buildings that promote sustainable building practices by implementing sound guidelines. Our goal is to become the industry leader in Maine in the development and implementation of sustainable and environmentally responsible practices throughout our organization. We define sustainability as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. In order to meet this goal, we have joined the Leadership Track of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection Agency//s STEP-UP Program. We are the only construction company in the State of Maine to be involved in this effort. By participating in this program we have joined a select group of leading Maine businesses, all agreeing to explore new ways of protecting the environment that go beyond regulatory compliance. Wright-Ryan Construction has committed to continuously improve its business practices to protect people and the environment, and will publicly report on its progress to inspire other businesses to seek improvement in their own environmental performance. In addition to participating in the State//s STEP-UP Program, Wright-Ryan Construction has agreed to participate in the Governor//s Carbon Challenge. Please read more about our specific goals. Our firm is a founding member of the Maine Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, as well as a member of the national U.S. Green Building Council. We currently have a member of our company//s senior management serving on the Maine Chapter Board of Directors, and Tom Wright previously served on the Board. Several of our employees are active on various Maine Chapter committees, including membership, communication, and program committees. Three of our staff members have received national accreditation status from the USGBC.
