General Contractors - Managers
Company Description:

The Hawkins story began in 1922 when Kenneth Hawkins and his brother Earl bid on and were awarded the construction contract for what is now Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In 1960, Kenneth and his son Fred incorporated the business into what is now Hawkins Construction Company. By the late 1960s Hawkins had gross revenue of over $20 million. Hawkins continued to grow in the 1970's completing many of the civic and privately owned buildings located in downtown Omaha.

By time the 1980's came around, Hawkins was highly regarded as a prominent Midwestern contracting firm completing many of the areas most recognized buildings, highways and bridges. The 80's brought the need for expansion at Omaha's Eppley Airfield where Hawkins completed millions of dollars in work that included new parking garages, passenger terminals and runway expansion.

In the 1990s Hawkins ascended to the region's largest and most successful highway and bridge contractor completing high-profile paving and bridge projects across the State of Nebraska. Commercial construction projects had also soared to new heights with the construction of distinguished projects for the University of Nebraska and First National Bank of Omaha. The 90s had also brought attention to Hawkins' versatility in completing public utility work with construction of several wastewater and water treatment plants located in eastern Nebraska.

At the turn of the millennium, Hawkins bid on and was awarded the State of Nebraskas largest let projects with the construction of the Nebraska State Correctional Facility in Tecumseh, Nebraska, the University of Nebraska Medical Centers Durham Research Center, the widening of I-80 to six lanes from Omaha to the Platte River and Omahas elevated West Dodge Expressway.

In the present day Hawkins Construction Company, owned and operated by third generation family members Fred Hawkins, Jr. and Kim Hawkins, is well-known as being the region's most accomplished general contractor for completing projects ahead of schedule and within budget. Current gross revenues are now in excess of $200 million annually.
