K. J. Beamish Construction Co., Limited is a family business that began operations on February 3, 1946 with a business focus on the road oiling treatment of the numerous gravel roads of the day. The familiar orange and black equipment and company banner - "A Sign of Progress..." continues to be highlighted 60 years later on many road building projects throughout central Ontario. The first of the company's numerous winter maintenance projects was for the City of Toronto. The work included the supply of a single axle dump truck and a crew that shoveled salt by hand off the tailgate along Hwy 2. Our history of winter work in the Toronto area spans the decades. The company currently provides over 70 pieces of equipment that work out of the Leslie and Commissioner Street winter camp for use on the Gardiner Expressway and many downtown Toronto streets and sidewalks.
