In addition to building construction Challenge developed specialized qualifications in concrete repair, structural renovations, waterfront repair work and adaptive plant renovations. In 1983 Challenge was appointed as an authorized builder for Butler Manufacturing Company beginning a gradual transition to design-build, industrial-commercial building construction.
