Askam Construction is a civil engineering, industrial and commercial building company which prides itself on completing contracts on time, to budget and safely. Established in 1986, the company has worked nationally on many large projects, for customers including United Utilities, British Telecom plc, HM Prison Service and The Environment Agency. Askam has an excellent health and safety record; every site based employee attends a First Aid Course and a Safety Awareness Course, ensuring a fundamental awareness of the importance of safety. In addition, monitoring systems are in place and frequent inspections and health and safety audits are carried out to ensure the company's high standards are rigorously maintained. In addition to health and safety training, we offer employees access to further education opportunities. All civil engineering employees have current 'confined spaces' and 'tunnelling' certificates and the majority of staff have CSCS and CTA cards. All site staff are trained on Plant, abrasive wheels and slinging and these qualifications are regularly updated. Askam also have a number of employees trained in the new Street Works Act, First Aid and Health & Safety Management training. Askam Construction is also dedicated to quality and the environment. We were awarded Investors in People in 1999 and achieved a reassessment of the standard in 2002 and 2005. They achieved BS EN ISO 9001:2000 accreditation in November 2001 and BS EN ISO 14001:2004 accreditation in September 2005. The company aims to be a market leader in the fields of reduction of environmental damage and pollution programmes.
