Company Description:
Adelaide Ship Construction International also specialise in building a wide range of power catamarans. The 'Shangri-La-Princess' is an outstanding party boat for day and evening cruising and is licensed to carry 400 cruise passengers or 250 diners. She is the ultimate dine, dance, or disco craft; fully fitted for partying in air-conditioned comfort, and was commissioned for Australia's sub-tropical Gold Coast tourist region. The owners, Shari-La Cruises Pty. Ltd. have been operating tourist vessels on Queensland's Gold Coast since 1952, and the new vessel will fill their need to carry more passengers in greater comfort and convenience than was available with their existing fleet. Facilities include a full galley, two fully equipped bars and a canteen, while being able to cater for business people at conventions, product launches and other functions. On trials, the vessel exceeded the 10-11 knots speed expected. Although the vessel has a beam of 10.2 metres overall, the two slim hulls allow her to slip through the water with very little fuss, a point which will be appreciated by owners of smaller vessels and waterside home owners. The hulls are steel, with an aluminium superstructure. The Shangri-La Princess has carried over 12 million passengers over her service life, and her sister-ship 8 million (both of these vessels were built by Adelaide Ship Construction International making the total passenger numbers the equivalent of the entire population of Australia!
