In the early 1980s, demand for student housing brought Walsh Construction Co. to the Seattle area to build three design-build projects for the University of Washington. By 1983, WCC management was considering opening an office in the area - in keeping with the companys principle of maintaining geographic flexibility, the notion of shifting resources between the Seattle and Portland markets provided better job security for our employees at a time when the construction market was depressed. It also allowed us to serve clients with interests in both markets. After careful consideration, Tom Walsh headed north to open our Seattle office in 1987.
