RMF specializes in the design of infrastructure engineering. The firm is nationally recognized for the analysis, planning and design of campus utility generation and distribution systems. RMF begins a new project by conducting a facility survey and energy audit of electricity, steam, and chilled water usage and weighs the utility costs against alternate sources. RMF then considers numerous viable generation technologies and evaluates the capital, fuel, and maintenance costs, as well as factors such as permitting and public approval. Currently, RMF has five (5) Certified Energy Managers skilled in auditing and identifying methods for reduction in annual utility operating costs through the use of creative and efficient solutions. The firm has extensive experience incorporating the following components: Chilled Water Generation & Distribution Steam Generation & Distribution Electric Generation & Distribution Sanitary/Storm Sewers Domestic Water/Fire Protection Energy Management & Control Systems Telecommunications Cogeneration Medical Gasses Air Pollution Control Fire Alarm Systems Emergency Power RMF has provided the survey, analysis, planning, design, and start-up of chilled water systems for over fifty major chilled water plants and distribution systems in the last eight years. The firm approaches each chilled water plant as an independent and site-specific application. Some innovative concepts that have been effectively utilized include: Primary / Secondary (Tertiary) Pumping Variable Speed Pumping Non-Electric Prime Movers High Efficiency Machines (Low Kw per ton) Cooling Tower Optimization Automatic Condenser Cleaning System Free Cooling Utilizing Flat Plate Technology Cooling Optimization of Loading Parallel Machines Water Treatment Programs Thermal Storage Surveys, inspections, studies, and designs of boilers, auxiliary equipment and distribution piping systems have been performed extensively by RMF. The firm is unique in that we have a full time in-house team for boiler inspection. The firm has completed the design for the installation of both overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. These designs have included upgrades to existing overhead feeders, replacement of existing underground feeders, and replacement of existing overhead feeders with new underground ductbanks and feeders. RMF//s design experience for power generation systems includes standby and peak shaving applications as well as cogeneration. Project designs involving stand-alone generators as well as multiple paralleled generators have been completed.
