HCC came to Alaska in the early days of the Prudhoe Bay boom and was acquired by the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation in 1985. ASRC later formed Natchiq as a holding company over HCC and Alaska Petroleum Contractors, which earlier had purchased Pioneer Oilfield Services, Inc. ASRC's energy service subsidiaries grew rapidly during the 1990s as existing companies were acquired and new national and international operations were initiated. In April 2003, we streamlined our energy services businesses to better meet changing market demands, and underwent a successful re-branding from "Natchiq" to "ASRC Energy Services." With nearly 4,000 employees, AES (with its subsidiaries) has emerged as one of Alaska's largest private employers and the largest oilfield services employer in the state. We have achieved this growth primarily through the diversification of service offerings based on the full field life cycle, improved efficiency, and strengthened market position.
