Paciulli, Simmons & Associates, Ltd., traces its Virginia roots to the mid- 1700's. At about the time George Washington became the first registered surveyor for Culpeper County, Virginia landowner, Henry Gunnell, was a surveyor for Fairfax County. The business was handed down from Henry through sons and sons-in-law for several generations, eventually to J. Owen Berry, who named the firm Berry Engineers. When a son-in-law, Orlo Paciulli, took over the reins, the firm became known as Orlo C. Paciulli Associates. In 1977 Howell Simmons became a partner, and the firm was named Paciulli, Simmons & Associates, Ltd. Joseph G. Paciulli, Vice President, carries on the family's interest.
