From humble beginnings in January 1970, Colonial Electric Company, Inc. has grown into a leader in the Mid Atlantic region of the electrical contracting industry. With headquarters in Harwood, MD and a satellite office in Ellicott City, MD, Colonial is home to over 120 employees doing business in three distinct divisions: Construction, Service and Communications. The Construction Division, specializing in large commercial, multifamily buildings, has successfully completed projects including retail stores, office/high rise buildings, parking garages, movie theaters, restaurants, government and healthcare facilities, senior living homes, apartments, condominiums and single family residences. The Service Division focuses on commercial and residential service work, as well as small construction jobs such as customized tenant fit outs. The Communications Division specializes in commercial and residential fire alarm, security systems, E-Call, structured cabling and other low voltage projects. With a strong balance sheet, bonding capacity of $25mm per job and $50mm in aggregate, and over 400 years of combined electrical experience in the field, we are well positioned to accomplish our mission of being the best.
