Company Description:
For generations and generations, we've proudly served customers large and small, famous and not-so-famous, partly because excellence and extraordinary service are ingrained in our tradition...and partly just because we love this business! It's true. Ask your uncle. Or your grandfather. We opened our doors in 1860, founded by apprentice wood turner Frederick August Requarth, the great-great grandfather of current president, Alan F. Pippenger. A little later, we helped out some favorite sons of the area, Orville and Wilbur Wright, when they purchased spruce from us for their early flyers. Surprised? You shouldn't be. This is where they found the best wood, and this is where they found the best craftsman. It just made sense, the way it has for thousands of customers over the years. Located at Monument and Sears Streets in Dayton since 1895, we survived the Great Flood of 1913, a catastrophic fire, a couple of World Wars and the Depression. We evolved and thrived thanks to an in-depth understanding of our products and customers. Our secret to success has always been to anticipate and meet the unique needs of every era's consumer. Over the years, we've built a national reputation for fine millwork. Our woodwork graces homes and buildings not only across the Miami Valley, but also throughout the Midwest and along the East Coast. Our company supplied lumber for the nation's post-war housing boom in the 1950s. And we emerged from the deep recession of the early 1980's as one of Dayton's leading suppliers of building materials to homebuilders, general contractors, remodeling contractors and industrial customers.
