A local writer published a historical story about thesalmon run from the Great Lakes and how century after century fisherman have migrated toharvest these great fish. The story told of Native Americans catching these fish and then smoking them on cedar slabs for hours alongsidefire pits. From this one small newspaper story, the idea was born to bringthis long lost technique of cooking back to mainstream cooking enthusiasts in American and across the world.Great Lakes Grilling, was started by two gentlemen who were passionate about cooking, passionate about grilling and passionate about spreading the message of how good food can taste when cooked on wood planks.Today, Great Lakes standsalone as the leader of plank and cooking wrap production with a manufacturing facility capable of producing over one million planks per month.
