The Cochrans quickly realized that there were many more sources for reclaimed material, and soon began reclaiming the material from old barns, sheds, fences, and other buildings which were going to be demolished and burned otherwise. Antique Oak, Chestnut, and Tobaccowood were obvious choices for beautiful flooring and millwork, and the material was everywhere, right under their noses all along. The nostalgia and character of these materials, so rich with history, had to be preserved somehow, saved from an otherwise meaningless end.
