Company Description:
If you ask us, bathrooms, kitchens and foyers used to be pretty boring places. Places that were measured in functional square feet instead of the degree to which they express your personality, attract attention and make your guests linger a little longer by the front door at the end of the night. So in 1985, with only a handful of employees and a lot of ideas, we set out to change the way people think about their homes one bathroom and kitchen at a time. That was the year we opened our first shop, in Rochester, Minnesota. Founded on the idea of providing do-it-yourselfers with the finest natural stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles with which to work, The Tile Shop was the independent, boutique alternative to big box retailers, offering the kind of unique tiling products that cannot be found anywhere else. In 1992, as the DIY movement continued to gain steam, we expanded outside of Minnesota for the first time, a period of growth that extended throughout the Midwest all the way to the East Coast. Along the way, we acquired a new Distribution Center to more efficiently serve our customers. Located in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, this seven-building hub sits on 36 acres of land and is where we continue to manufacture and store our proprietary line of adhesives, chemicals and other tiling materials. For the last 25 years, The Tile Shop has been at the forefront of the DIY industry, growing in lock stop with the dreams and imaginations of the thousands of do-it-yourselfers we serve. And with plans to have 100 stores throughout the United States, we will continue to be the answer to those who seek only the finest tiling materials on the planet. Helping do-it-yourselfers of all stripes transform ugly surfaces into amazing surfaces, changing kitchens, bathrooms and foyers one tile at a time.
