Originally, owner Tom Nicklas studied construction in college. While in college, Nicklas worked as a firefighter and began working for a fellow firefighter in his remodeling business. In 1982, Nicklas started his own home remodeling business, beginning with a house he bought to remodel in Tulsa's Brookside. As his business grew, he saw how popular wood floors were and how difficult it was to find companies that had time to work on them. So he began providing floor services himself. The demand for hardwood flooring services grew until flooring became the main aspect of his business. And so Renaissance Hardwood Floors was born.
