Company Description:

The Detroit Housing Commission "DHC" is a Michigan public body corporate operating as a public housing authority operates under the authority granted in the Michigan Housing Facilities Act, MCL 125.653 et seq. In August 2004, DHC separated from the City of Detroit, a municipal government corporation, and became an independent government agency. The DHC administers approximately 5,635 Housing Choice Vouchers under the Section 8 program. It operates approximately 3,950 low income public housing units under an Annual Contributions Contract with HUD. DHC has also been awarded three (3) Hope VI Grants to create mixed-finance communities. The three (3) Hope VI grants are in various stages of implementation.
